Ancient Wisdom

Since the dawn of mankind we have sought the answers to innumerable questions. In the end it all comes down to knowing who we are and how to utilise our abilities to our best advantage and overcome the challenges of life. Many of these answers can be found using the techniques of the shaman, still used and studied in many parts of the world

Modern Solutions

Hypnotherapy and other trance states allow us to access the hidden knowledge and understanding held deep in our unconscious mind. Unlocking this allows us to understand ourselves in a new and profound way, assisting us to find solutions for many of our present day issues.

Hypnotherapy in Action

Change your mind, change your life, with hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy - An Introduction

Hypnotherapy is one of the best tools in the therapists repertoire. Many of the problems that we have, such as phobias, anxiety, certain stress based disorders and other issues, can all be successfully treated by hypnotherapy. We are all aware of the health implications caused by smoking and being overweight so it is especially reassuring that with a small number of sessions of hypnosis we can then make serious improvements.

Many people have overcome lifelong issues in a short amount of time thanks to hypnotherapy.

It may be that sometime in our past experiences we encountered a situation and formed a belief. As time goes by the belief is all that is remembered, not the situation that created that belief. We may hold the belief in spite of logic and reason and common sense. These beliefs may create behaviour that works against us and we find ourselves unable to change our behaviour because of the belief.

We may have developed a fear of flying, or a fear of heights. We may be overweight and need to lose weight, yet find that time and time again the diet fails. We may smoke too much and wish to stop smoking, finding it hard to do permanently. We may suffer from stress and anxiety and yet find it difficult to articulate why this is so.

In all of these cases and anything similar hypnotherapy will provide the answer. By asking our unconscious mind to provide the answers we can change the behaviour by understanding how the belief came to be accepted. The unconscious mind understands this reaction is inappropriate for the current situation and it stops.

What is Hypnosis like?

A session is normally an hour long and on the first visit will consist of a brief talk to find out the issue that needs treatment, and then the therapy session itself. Subsequent visits will recap how things have changed and then go straight into therapy.

The first part is important as we need to be clear on what goals are being set for the session and that these goals are realistic and achievable. Any additional work not part of the hypnotherapy will be done at this point. We are utilising this time to target the mind on what needs to be achieved in order to assist in the solution.

The second part is the hypnotherapy itself. The client will be made comfortable and will be relaxed in order to achieve the hypnotic state. This is a natural and pleasant state of mind, one that we normally achieve when we read a good book or become immersed in a film. The mind focuses and ignores what is going on around. Most people do not wish this to stop, enjoying the hypnotic state so much. During this time any agreed therapy work is performed and suggestions made to the client. The client awakes and the session is closed.

Some people have concerns about hypnotherapy. Can they be made to do things they don't wish? The truth is that this is not possible. During hypnosis we are totally aware of the words of the therapist and our faculties will question any instruction or command that goes against what we believe. You cannot be induced to do something against your will by hypnotherapy. Sometimes you may wonder if entering a hypnotic state means surrendering yourself or losing control. Again, this is not the case. We are talking to the unconscious mind, nothing more. We are telling the unconscious that it no longer needs to follow a particular activity, that a different reaction would be more beneficial.
