Wisdom of the Shaman
Learn about shamanic methods.
Role of the Shaman, Ancient and Modern:
In the ancient world the shaman was the spiritual force of the tribe, keeping everyone in touch with the world around them and with the spirits that were believed to exist. He would interpret the signs in nature to advise the best times to hunt and plant crops, when to move with the herds and when to settle for winter. He would heal the tribe and protect them from the diseases and afflictions they suffered from.
Mankind is essentially no different now, if we have personal problems or stresses from daily living we become ill and in many cases dealing with the cause will often provide the cure. This is what the shaman knew and he would use psychology to uncover the reasons for disturbances in peoples lives. Using a combination of psychology and therapy he would resolve the issues leaving the person feeling better and able to shake off their illness.
In the modern world there is a reliance on the medicine only, leaving a void that is filled by complementary therapy. With medicines only, we get better from the illness but our body is strengthened and the mind is still left with the original cause. The complementary therapist will discuss things with a client and perform the role of the shaman to provide the additional support.
The modern shaman will utilise a variety of therapies to assist the client in gaining the support they need to restore their health, and will use methods of hypnotherapy in order to uncover the unconscious reasons for ill health and resolve them for the client.
